UPDATE: First military medevac from Ukraine.
While we have been involved in evacuating civilians from Ukraine to hospitals in other countries no injured soldiers had been evacuated from Ukriane yet.
These soldiers have suffered serious injuries while defending their country against the Russian invader. And yet due to bureacratic hurdles not a single one had been brought to a hospital elsewhere in Europe to recieve much needed care.
However last week we received permission (from president Zelensky’s office directly) to bring the first group of soldiers abroad.
The Luisen Hospital in Aachen Germany had made the generous offer to receive these 6 soldiers and provide treatment.
Working together with ambulance provider Bosec and a team of volunteer medics the medevac was planned. The team set of from the Netherlands on Wednesday evening and drove straight to the Polish/Ukraine borer where they took receipt of the patients who had been brought there by a military convoy.
Once the patients had been transfered they drove straight back to the hospital in Germany.
They arrived at 15:30 on Friday and the patients where unloaded and transfered into care of the hospital.
This is the first of many of these transports for us as we already have a list of more than 50 soldiers requiring urgent care that is not availble in Ukraine.
We need your help to enable is to help them. You can donate or volunteer by clicking on the following link: http://disastertechlab.org/ukraine-deployment-2022/
We also want to thank everyone who worked with us on this: Bosec Medical, The Luisen Hospital and stichting Zeilen van Vrijheid.
