Ukraine response update.
Please support our work in Ukraine by donating!
With the war in Ukraine continuing so does our work. Time for an update about some of the work that we’ve done in recent months.
This does not represent all the work we’ve done as that would require a multiple page post and nobody wants to read all of that.
-
- Medical evacuations: We’ve continued our project of medical evacuations of injured Ukrainian soldiers to the Lucas Hospital in Romania. Treatment for current patients continued and some were already measured for prosthetics. Some of the patients who had been brought there in the past have completed their treatment and have returned to Ukraine. Patients who were already in the hospital and physically able to have been brought on day-trips to aleviate the stress of their injuries and hospitalisation. We have also enabled for family members of the patients to come to the area and stay closeby (accommodation provided by the hospital) so that they would not be separated from their fahers/sons/husbands. This all to improve the mental wellbeing of the patients.
- Emergency supplies and logistics: Amongst some of the much needed supplies that we sourced and delivered to Ukraine was a large donation of medical supplies and equipment received as a combined donation by the Mater, Belfast City and the Royal Victoria hospitals in Belfast UK. This shipment contianed a large amount of medical supplies as well as large Zeis microscopes and Mindray patient monitors.
- Communications: Using the equipment provided by our partners Cambium Networks and Cradlepoint we have started work on a project to provide refugees in transport with essential information on services and aid available in their vicinity. More details of this project can be found here.
- Reni: We posted about our plans for an aid post in Reni already. Work on this has commenced and together with local partners distribution of food and other necessities to refugees and truckdrivers stuck at this border crossing has already started.
