DTL is going back to the Phillippines!
We first sent a team to the Philippines following typhoon Haiyan at the end of 2013. Haiyan hit the Philippines on November 3rd 2013 displacing 4.1 million people, killing more than 6,000 people and leaving 1,800 missing. Our teams deployed to a number of locations to provide much needed help.
One of the locations where we worked was in “Arapal”, a rural community at the northern end of the islam of Cebu. We built communications infrastructure, provided communication services, ran medical clinics and trained several teams of local volunteers in first aid and medical skills.
We are now going back for a much needed follow up mission. Arapal has continued to serve as a hub for community growth and support. The people there run educational workshops and livelihood training, food distribution activities, medical support services, an orphanage and school. The local population is very disadvantaged but the work carried out in Arapal has and is making a very positive impact. They now want to provide ICT skills classes at college level offering young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to better themselves.
We cannot achieve this without your support and appeal to your generosity. Please click on the link below to make a donation.
