December 4th 2013, Cebu Philippines update
Our advance team has been following up on the planning and communications we have had prior to their deployment.
They have established direct contact with doctors at local hospitals in Cebu in order to more closely assess needs for medical assistance as well as Internet access and IT support.
They’ve also been in contact with the Public Health Officer for Cebu Metro to re-confirm our offer of services and support as well as to build a picture of the needs in a number of refugee camps in the Cebu area.
To follow up on this they are attending a DOH (Department of Health) in Cebu tomorrow.
We’ve also started surveying the availability or lack of wireless communication services such as WiFi and cellular. The data gathered will be processed and entered into a public map.
We will also visit Arapal Camp South of Bogo either tomorrow or Friday depending on logistics. Our plan is to establish a base their allowing us to build out an internet access service and IP-based communication services.
